$BTC Bitcoin at $80,700: Eyes on PCE Data, Pressure for Profit Taking Increases
Following a strong weekly rise of 21.8%, pressure for profit taking is increasing. Investors are awaiting the core PCE inflation data to be released on Friday, and its potential impact on interest rate expectations.
Bitcoin's Situation at a Critical Threshold
Bitcoin is currently stabilizing around $80,700 after the strong rise experienced in recent weeks. Having reached a 24-hour high of $80,873, BTC is facing profit-taking. Trading volume and market momentum present a cautious outlook, with indicators approaching the overbought zone.
What Does the PCE Inflation Data Mean?
The market's focus is on the core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data, which the US Federal Reserve (Fed) closely monitors as an indicator of inflation. A PCE figure above expectations could increase concerns that interest rate cuts may be delayed. In this scenario, the dollar may strengthen, creating selling pressure on risky assets.
Conversely, lower-than-expected PCE data reinforces the perception that inflation is under control. This creates more room for the Fed to cut interest rates and supports risky assets like cryptocurrencies.
Technical Outlook: Resistance and Support Levels
In Bitcoin's current price movements, the $80,900 level stands out as short-term resistance. If this area is breached, $82,000 and $83,000 can be targeted respectively. On the downside, $78,500 is the first support level. In a deeper pullback, the $77,000 and $75,000 levels can be monitored. Overbought signals in the relative strength index remind us to be cautious at current levels.
Bitcoin is at a critical juncture, facing pressure due to technical and macroeconomic reasons following a strong weekly performance. PCE data stands out as the most important factor determining the short-term direction of the market. Whether the data comes in below or above expectations could create decisive movements in the markets. Investors need to pay attention to risk management before this critical data release.
