This date is no ordinary day; it is the official international deadline announced by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), the world's highest authority on internet standards.
What will happen on September 3, 2026?
(The Overlooked Global Milestone)
The W3C, which establishes global internet standards, has officially released the “DID Resolution (Decentralized Identity Resolution) v1.0” technical specification and designated it as a Candidate Recommendation, while setting September 3, 2026, as the deadline for public feedback.
So, what is DID Resolution? Decentralized identities (DIDs) give users the right to create their own digital identities without seeking anyone's permission. DID Resolution is the “globally universal telephone directory standard” that specifies how these unique cryptographic identity strings can be queried by banks, government systems, or Web3 applications anywhere in the world, and how they can be converted into their owners' public keys.
