#EliteTraderChampionship Elite Trader Championship: Is Firepower Becoming the New Measure of a Top Trader?

The Elite Trader Championship is putting a different emphasis on what it means to rank as a top trader. Running from August 24 to September 21, 2026, the competition combines Futures and CFD trading, but the leaderboard is not determined by trading volume alone. Its central metric is Firepower Points, which combines trading activity, return performance and the ability to attract and generate results through copy trading.

That distinction matters because a trader with enormous volume is not automatically the most effective trader. A more complete ranking needs to consider how actively someone trades, how well they perform, and whether other traders are willing to follow their strategies.

The competition offers a headline prize pool of up to 500,000 USDT, including a monthly pool of up to 300,000 USDT and weekly rewards totaling 8,000 USDT, with 600 USDT for the weekly No. 1. But the prize money is arguably not the most interesting part of the event. The real story is how Firepower Points attempt to combine several different dimensions of trading performance into one ranking system.

For the Futures track, leaderboard-reward eligibility requires at least 5 million USDT of total trading volume, while the CFD track requires 20 million USDT. There is also a lower participation threshold: 500,000 USDT Futures volume or 2 million USDT CFD volume. These thresholds create an important distinction between simply entering the competition and actually qualifying for leaderboard rewards.

The weekly leaderboard ranks the Top 10, while the monthly leaderboard expands that field to the Top 50. This means traders are competing not only for the highest possible position, but also for consistency throughout the competition period. A trader who performs strongly for one week but then loses momentum may face a very different outcome from someone who maintains stable performance across multiple weeks.

So what exactly makes Firepower interesting?

Think of the ranking as three major engines working together:

Trading Volume → Activity

Volume demonstrates participation and trading intensity. However, high volume by itself does not prove that a strategy is profitable.

Return Performance → Efficiency

ROI and trading performance provide another layer. A trader generating substantial returns from their activity may have a stronger competitive profile than someone producing huge volume with weak results.

Copy-Trader PnL + New Valid Copiers → Influence

This is where the competition becomes particularly interesting. Copy-trading results and the growth of valid copiers add a social-performance component. A trader is not judged solely on personal activity; their ability to attract followers and generate results for those followers can also contribute to their Firepower.

That creates a much more interesting competitive equation:

Volume creates activity.
Performance creates credibility.
Copy-trader results create influence.
Together, they build Firepower.

The biggest mistake would therefore be to look at the leaderboard and assume that the trader with the highest volume must be the strongest trader. The system is designed around multiple inputs, so the ranking can favor traders who balance activity with performance and copy-trading growth.

For example, imagine Trader A generates extremely high Futures volume but produces weak returns, while Trader B generates lower volume but achieves stronger performance and attracts profitable copiers. Under a multi-factor system, Trader B can potentially become more competitive despite trading less.

This is also why ROI alone should not be treated as the complete answer. A very high percentage return on a small trading base does not necessarily represent the same level of achievement as consistent performance at substantial scale. Firepower attempts to bring scale, performance and copy-trading impact into the same competitive framework.

The thresholds also tell us something important about strategy. With 5M USDT Futures volume or 20M USDT CFD volume required for leaderboard rewards, participants need meaningful trading activity. But excessive trading purely to increase volume can introduce additional costs and risk. The objective should not be to manufacture volume at any price; it should be to generate eligible activity while maintaining disciplined risk management.
The same principle applies to copy trading. Attracting new copiers may contribute to Firepower, but sustainable growth should ideally come from consistent performance and risk control, not simply aggressive short-term returns.

For me, that is the most interesting part of the Elite Trader Championship.

It changes the question from:

“Who trades the most?”

to:

“Who can combine scale, performance and follower impact most effectively?”
The August 24–September 21 competition period gives traders several weeks to prove that their results are repeatable rather than simply the product of one successful session. The weekly leaderboard provides short-term opportunities, while the monthly Top 50 ranking rewards participants who can remain competitive over a longer period.

My takeaway is simple: Firepower Points make the championship less about one isolated statistic and more about the complete trading profile.
Volume gets you into the competition. Performance separates traders. Copy-trader results demonstrate whether that performance can translate into real follower outcomes.
The trader with the biggest volume may get attention. The trader who combines volume, returns and copy-trading growth is the one Firepower is designed to measure. @Gate_Square
