#GoldmanSachsBullishOnCXMT
CXMT is once again becoming one of the most closely watched names in China’s semiconductor and AI-memory story, and today’s price action is showing why this stock has attracted so much attention from global investors.
As of August 25, 2026, ChangXin Memory Technologies ($CXMT / 688825) is trading around ¥56.00, after opening near ¥55.57 and moving between approximately ¥54.92 and ¥56.98 during today’s session. The stock is down about 1.06% today, while the previous session closed around ¥56.60.
The bigger story, however, is what happened before this consolidation. CXMT debuted on the Shanghai STAR Market on July 27 at an IPO price of only ¥8.66 and closed its first trading day around ¥49, representing an extraordinary gain of roughly 466%. That launch immediately placed CXMT at the center of the global memory-chip conversation and highlighted how aggressively investors are pricing in China’s semiconductor ambitions.
For me, the most important part of the #GoldmanSachsBullishOnCXMT theme is the broader investment thesis around China’s AI and semiconductor value chain. Goldman Sachs has expressed a bullish view on China’s AI value chain, arguing that the potential economic benefits from AI could be substantially larger than what current valuations imply. That broader thesis is important for CXMT because memory is becoming one of the critical bottlenecks of the AI infrastructure cycle.
At the same time, I would separate the broader Goldman Sachs bullish view from a direct “Goldman Sachs Buy rating on CXMT” claim. The evidence I found supports Goldman’s bullish positioning toward China’s AI ecosystem, but it does not establish that Goldman has issued a specific current price target for CXMT itself. For traders, that distinction matters.
The fundamental story behind CXMT is still extremely interesting.
CXMT has rapidly increased its presence in the global DRAM market. Counterpoint reported that CXMT continued to gain momentum as AI demand reshaped the DRAM industry, while other industry estimates have placed CXMT’s global DRAM share around the high-single-digit range.
This is where the AI-memory connection becomes important.
The AI boom is creating enormous demand for high-performance memory, and the global memory market remains heavily concentrated among Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. CXMT is attempting to establish itself as a major fourth competitor, while China is simultaneously pushing for greater domestic semiconductor self-sufficiency.
That combination gives CXMT a very powerful long-term narrative: AI demand + memory shortage + Chinese semiconductor independence + domestic technology investment.
But there is another side to the trade.
The valuation has already moved extremely far compared with the original IPO price. From ¥8.66 to around ¥56 today, the stock has increased by more than 500% from the offering price. That means investors are no longer buying CXMT simply because it is a promising semiconductor company; they are paying a very large premium for future growth expectations.
This is why I would be careful about chasing CXMT after a strong move.
My current view is long-term bullish, short-term cautious.
The chart needs to prove that the ¥54–¥55 area can become a meaningful support zone. Today’s low around ¥54.92 is therefore an important short-term reference. If buyers continue defending ¥55 and the price moves back above ¥57–¥58 with strong volume, I would consider that a much healthier signal.
The next resistance zone I would watch is approximately ¥58–¥60.
A decisive breakout above ¥60 could bring the previous high region near ¥61–¥62 back into focus. If CXMT can reclaim that area and establish a new higher high, the market could start looking toward ¥65, followed by ¥70.
My trading plan would therefore be based on confirmation rather than FOMO.
My first accumulation zone: ¥54–¥56, but only with controlled position size.
Confirmation zone: ¥58–¥60.
Breakout confirmation: above ¥61–¥62 with strong volume.
First upside target: ¥65.
Second target: ¥70.
Aggressive bullish target: ¥75–¥80, but only if the stock develops another strong momentum phase rather than simply moving sideways.
On the downside, ¥52–¥53 would be the first level I would monitor if selling pressure increases. If CXMT loses ¥50 decisively and cannot reclaim it, I would become much more cautious because that could indicate that the post-IPO momentum has entered a deeper correction.
I would NOT use the IPO price as a realistic short-term support level simply because the stock has moved so far away from it. The market has completely repriced CXMT since its debut.
Another major factor I am watching is the broader global memory cycle. CXMT’s rise is already having consequences across the semiconductor industry. Its debut contributed to a sharp repricing of other memory-related stocks, showing that investors are taking the potential competitive impact seriously.
At the same time, CXMT is still facing technological, geopolitical and valuation risks. Competition with Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron remains extremely intense, and the semiconductor industry is highly cyclical. If memory prices weaken or AI infrastructure spending slows, extremely high-growth expectations can quickly be reassessed.
That is why my strategy is not simply “CXMT is bullish, buy at any price.”
My strategy is buy strength only after confirmation, accumulate controlled pullbacks, and take partial profits into major resistance.
If CXMT holds ¥55 and recovers ¥58–¥60, I would become increasingly constructive.
If it breaks ¥62 convincingly, I would view that as a stronger momentum confirmation and watch ¥65–¥70.
If it reaches ¥70 quickly, I would avoid chasing and start considering partial profit-taking.
If it falls below ¥50 with heavy selling pressure, I would step back and wait for a new structure.
For me, the most interesting part of the CXMT story is not the spectacular 466% IPO-day rally anymore. The real test begins after the excitement fades.
Can CXMT maintain its valuation?
Can it continue gaining DRAM market share?
Can AI demand keep memory prices elevated?
Can Chinese semiconductor companies reduce dependence on foreign technology?
And most importantly, can CXMT turn its enormous investor expectations into sustainable earnings growth?
These questions will determine whether today’s valuation becomes justified over the next several years.
My current outlook:
Fundamentally: Bullish.
Short term: Neutral-to-bullish, but volatile.
Current price: around ¥56.00.
Key support: ¥54–¥55.
Major support: ¥50–¥52.
Resistance: ¥58–¥60.
Breakout zone: ¥61–¥62.
Targets: ¥65 → ¥70 → ¥75–¥80.
My biggest warning is simple: CXMT has already delivered an extraordinary post-IPO move, so risk management is more important than ever. I would rather enter at a controlled level with a defined invalidation point than chase a rapidly rising semiconductor stock after a huge historical rally.
The #GoldmanSachsBullishOnCXMT narrative is ultimately bigger than one stock. It represents the growing investment story around China + AI + semiconductors + memory infrastructure.
For me, CXMT remains a stock to watch closely.
The next battle is not whether CXMT can attract attention.
It already has.
The next battle is whether ¥55–¥60 can become the foundation for the next major move.
If buyers reclaim ¥60–¥62 with strong volume, the bullish case becomes much more interesting.
Until then, I prefer patience, confirmation and disciplined position sizing over FOMO.
