SOL Breaks Above US$100: Not Just a Breakout, but a New Test for Solana

Solana has finally broken back above US$100, a psychological level that for months has marked the boundary between recovery and a trend reversal. The latest market data puts SOL at around US$101, with a market capitalization of approximately US$59 billion.

However, what makes this breakout interesting is not just the number.
SOL had previously risen around 25% in a week, after reaching approximately US$93.39 on August 21. The move was driven by a combination of a short squeeze, a recovery in the crypto market, and growing institutional demand.
It is not just the price that has changed
US spot Solana ETF inflows are also beginning to show momentum. Farside data recorded net inflows of US$33.5 million on August 24, following US$10 million on August 21 and US$14.6 million on August 20. Total cumulative inflows now stand at around US$1.192 billion.

This provides important context:
SOL's breakout is now occurring alongside increased access to institutional capital, not just spot market speculation.
On the network fundamentals side, the Agave v4.2 upgrade has also become a positive catalyst, with improved network performance forming part of Solana's thesis for maintaining its position as a high-throughput blockchain.

But US$100 is not the finish line
In fact, the challenge begins once SOL breaks above US$100.
If the price can hold above US$100, that level could shift from resistance to psychological support. Conversely, failure to hold it could indicate that the breakout is being driven more by momentum and short covering.
Traders should also pay attention to one thing: ETF inflows do not fully explain SOL's price increase. An analysis on August 22 estimated that ETF flows accounted for only a small portion of the increase in SOL's market capitalization, meaning spot and derivatives market activity remain important factors.

Conclusion
US$100 is no longer Solana's target. It is now a proving ground.
If SOL can consolidate above that level while maintaining positive ETF flows and strong network activity, this breakout could develop into a larger trend-structure shift.
What matters is not how quickly SOL breaks above US$100, but whether the market is willing to buy SOL again after the breakout euphoria subsides.
