#GateLaunchesJapaneseStockTrading Gate has taken a decisive step in expanding its global multi-asset offering by launching Japanese stock trading. The platform now provides direct access to approximately 300 stocks listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with an initial focus on highly liquid names from the Prime Market. Users can buy and sell these equities using USDT without opening a separate Japanese brokerage account or converting funds into yen. The service is already live on the web platform, with mobile app support expected shortly.

The first-wave selection prioritizes established companies with strong market capitalization and investor recognition. Key names include Toyota Motor, Sony Group, SoftBank Group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Nintendo, and Tokyo Electron. These stocks span critical sectors of the Japanese economy, including automotive manufacturing, consumer electronics and entertainment, telecommunications and investment holdings, banking, gaming, and semiconductor equipment. The platform has indicated that additional Japanese equities will be added over time according to market demand, further broadening the available universe.

Functionally, Japanese stocks share the same stock account infrastructure already used for U.S., Hong Kong, and Korean equities. This means users can view market data, place and manage orders, monitor positions, and review transaction history within a single unified interface. Trading follows Tokyo Stock Exchange hours: 09:00 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 15:25 Japan time. Prices, position values, and profit-and-loss figures are displayed in Japanese yen, while funding and fee settlement occur in USDT according to platform rules. This design removes several traditional friction points that previously limited crypto-native users from accessing the Japanese equity market.

With this addition, Gate’s overall equity coverage now exceeds 12,800 stocks and ETFs across four major regions. The move strengthens the platform’s positioning as a genuine one-stop venue where digital assets and traditional securities can be managed side by side. For traders who already hold USDT balances, the ability to allocate capital into Japanese equities without leaving the ecosystem or navigating foreign brokerage onboarding represents a meaningful reduction in operational complexity.

The timing also aligns with broader interest in Japanese markets. Corporate governance reforms, share-buyback activity, and shifting monetary policy dynamics have drawn increased global attention to Tokyo-listed companies in recent years. By making a curated set of these stocks accessible through a familiar USDT settlement layer, Gate lowers the barrier for a new cohort of participants who may previously have found the traditional route cumbersome.

My personal view is that this type of expansion is strategically sound. Crypto platforms that successfully bridge into regulated equity markets create stickier user relationships and more diversified revenue opportunities. The decision to start with roughly 300 high-liquidity names rather than an exhaustive list shows practical prioritization. Liquidity and operational reliability matter more than sheer quantity at launch. Over time, the real test will be execution quality, spreads, and the speed with which the platform responds to user demand for additional tickers.

For participants, the practical implications are clear. Those interested in Japanese corporate exposure can now act within the same account structure they already use for digital assets. At the same time, currency translation effects between yen-denominated prices and USDT settlement remain a factor that careful users will monitor. The launch campaign accompanying the release further incentivizes early exploration of the new product set.

Overall, the introduction of Japanese stock trading marks another concrete step in Gate’s multi-asset strategy. It expands choice, reduces friction, and places a major Asian equity market within closer reach of the platform’s user base. How the offering evolves in the coming months will determine whether it becomes a core allocation tool or remains a complementary feature. For now, the foundation has been laid with a focused, liquid selection of Tokyo-listed companies available for direct USDT trading.
