Those are the headline numbers from Gate’s latest Proof of Reserves update. Major assets including BTC, ETH and the stablecoin suite are all carried above 100% collateralization. In plain terms, the platform is holding more than the sum of customer liabilities across the reported categories.
For anyone who has been through previous industry stress events, the distinction between a 100% claim and a verifiable surplus is meaningful. A ratio of 127% provides a buffer against sudden withdrawal demand or short-term market gaps. It does not eliminate every risk that exists in crypto, but it does address one of the most basic questions users ask: are the assets actually there.
When I decide whether to keep meaningful size on any platform long term, reserves are one of the first filters. Liquidity depth, security track record, product range and fee structure all matter, yet none of them compensate for uncertainty about solvency. Transparent, regularly updated Proof of Reserves reduces that uncertainty. The fact that the number has grown to $8.215B while the ratio remains comfortably above 100% is the part that stands out.
Different traders weight the factors differently. Some prioritize the deepest order books. Others focus on security history or the breadth of available markets. For me the sequence is reserves first, then operational reliability, then the rest.
