$CRML CRML, which closed Friday's session at $7.10, experienced a storm of gains, surging 22.6% during the day. Considering it opened at $6 and hit an intraday low of $5.97, we can better understand the intensity of this rise. So, what's behind this movement, and what makes Critical Metals Corp so special?
Good News from Tanbreez
At the heart of Critical Metals Corp lies the Tanbreez rare earth project located in southern Greenland. According to the company's latest announcements, initial results from its 2025 drilling schedule have identified high-quality rare earth elements (HREE) in the Fjord and Upper Fjord regions. The presence of elements such as dysprosium, terbium, and yttrium, which are strategically important to obtain from non-Chinese sources, makes this project indispensable for the Western world.
Although the company is not yet generating revenue, the work being done on-site and the acquisition of a mobile geochemistry lab to accelerate the drilling process are whetting investor appetites. This lab eliminates the months-long delays caused by sending samples to distant laboratories.
Company Valuation and Financial Situation
As we see in the screenshots, CRML's market capitalization is $1.04 billion. However, the stock's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of -5.007 indicates that the company is not yet profitable. According to Morningstar data, the company has only 4 employees and its return on equity (ROE) is in negative territory.
One of the company's biggest challenges is its financing needs. European Lithium Ltd's decision to sell a portion of its CRML shares may stem from a desire to capitalize on current price levels. A similar sale occurred in October 2025 when the share price reached $32.15, after which the stock experienced a 76% drop.
So, is this rise sustainable?
CRML is a company aiming to provide materials critical to the defense, aerospace, and green energy transition. The US's strategic interest in Greenland and China's search for alternatives to its dominance in rare earth elements make the company attractive.
However, investors should be cautious:
• The company is not yet generating revenue and is experiencing working capital shortages.
• Although the pilot plant is planned to be commissioned in May 2026, commercial production will not begin until 2028.
• The rise in stock price may lead to major shareholders selling.
Conclusion
The potential of the Tanbreez project and the critical mineral needs of the Western world make CRML an interesting player in the long term. However, this is a high-risk development story currently priced more on future prospects than cash flow. While it offers an exciting opportunity for those with a high risk appetite, caution is advised.
