#GateLaunchesJapaneseStockTrading
Japan’s stock market has just become much easier to access through Gate. Around 300 Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed companies are now available in the first batch, bringing major names such as Toyota, Sony, SoftBank and Nintendo into the same ecosystem used for digital assets.
What makes the launch interesting is the connection between traditional markets and crypto infrastructure. Gate says users can trade the Japanese stocks using USDT without opening a separate Japanese brokerage account or manually converting their funds into yen. The initial service is available through Gate Web, with mobile integration planned.
The selection also goes beyond the four familiar names. The initial universe includes companies such as MUFG and Tokyo Electron, giving exposure to Japanese financials, semiconductor equipment, technology, automobiles and consumer entertainment. That makes the launch more interesting from a diversification perspective rather than simply adding a few famous stocks.
Toyota stands out for investors looking for exposure to Japan’s automotive industry, while Sony offers a combination of electronics, entertainment and gaming exposure. Nintendo brings a more concentrated consumer-gaming story, whereas SoftBank provides exposure to technology and investment themes. Each represents a different part of Japan’s equity market, so the strongest choice depends on the underlying sector thesis rather than brand recognition alone.
There is also an important detail behind the USDT experience. Japanese shares remain priced in JPY because that is the underlying market currency, while Gate allows settlement using USDT. This means users still need to understand the effect of JPY/USDT exchange-rate movements when evaluating their eventual returns.
For me, the bigger story is what this says about the direction of global trading platforms. Gate is moving beyond crypto-only products and building a broader TradFi environment where digital assets and international equities can exist within a unified account structure. Japanese stocks are the latest addition after its expansion into U.S., Hong Kong and Korean markets.
The launch also arrives at an interesting time for Japanese equities. Gate's own market coverage highlights the strong performance of the Nikkei 225 and particularly strong moves from major Japanese companies earlier in 2026. That makes the timing notable, but investors still need to separate the excitement around easier access from the fundamentals and valuation of each individual company.
If I had to choose one name to study first, I would look at Toyota because it offers exposure to a globally important Japanese industry while representing a different risk profile from the more technology-heavy names. But Sony, Nintendo, SoftBank and Tokyo Electron each offer completely different investment narratives, which makes the new selection worth exploring rather than treating it as a one-stock opportunity.
The more interesting question for Gate users is no longer whether Japanese stocks are accessible. They are. The real opportunity is learning how to compare Japanese equities by sector, valuation, earnings growth, currency exposure and market structure while using the same platform for a broader multi-asset portfolio.
