XRP Is Back Above $1.20 — But the Rally Needs Confirmation
XRP has become one of the strongest movers in the current crypto rebound, with the token trading around the $1.24–$1.30 area after a powerful weekly recovery. Recent market data shows XRP gaining roughly 30% over the past week, while Thursday’s move pushed the token close to $1.30. The rally has also been accompanied by elevated market activity and a major shift in sentiment after XRP spent much of the previous period struggling around the $1 psychological level.
The most important part of this move is that XRP did not rally in isolation. Bitcoin's breakout above $72K triggered a broad risk-on move across the crypto market, and the subsequent short-liquidation wave created additional buying pressure throughout major altcoins. XRP amplified that momentum, producing one of its strongest weekly performances in months.
However, the structure is becoming stretched.
XRP's daily RSI has moved close to 80, placing momentum firmly in overbought territory. That does not automatically mean the rally has finished, because strong trends can remain overbought for extended periods. But after a move of roughly 30% in a week, it does increase the probability of consolidation and sharp intraday volatility.
Another important factor is derivatives positioning. XRP futures open interest has already fallen from its rally-day peak, according to recent market analysis, suggesting that part of the initial leverage-driven move has already been flushed out. That can actually be constructive if spot demand continues, because a rally supported by real buying is generally healthier than one relying entirely on leveraged futures.
ETF flows deserve attention as well. Recent data shows that XRP spot ETF inflows have continued, although the daily inflow pace has weakened compared with earlier sessions. That creates an important test for the next phase: can spot/institutional demand remain strong enough to support XRP after the initial short squeeze loses momentum?
From the chart perspective, $1.20–$1.25 has become an important area to watch. Holding above this region would help demonstrate that the recent breakout is developing into a new base rather than simply being a temporary squeeze. Above the current range, $1.32–$1.35 represents the next major resistance area, followed by the psychologically important $1.50 level.
A sustained move through $1.50 would materially change the medium-term technical picture because it would confirm that XRP is progressing beyond the current recovery phase. On the other hand, failure to maintain the recent breakout zone would make the $1.10–$1.15 region increasingly important as a potential demand area, while the psychological $1.00 level remains the major structural reference underneath the entire recovery.
The volume picture is also important. The recent rally has occurred alongside a substantial increase in market activity, which gives the move more credibility than a thin-volume spike. But the next stage needs to show continued participation. If price continues rising while volume falls sharply, momentum could become increasingly vulnerable to profit-taking.
There is also a fundamental narrative supporting the renewed interest in XRP. Regulatory developments in the United States have improved the broader environment for digital assets, while Ripple continues expanding its institutional payments and infrastructure business. Recent reporting also points to increased activity around XRP Ledger infrastructure and institutional adoption. These developments strengthen the long-term narrative, although they should not be treated as a guaranteed mechanism for XRP's price appreciation.
The most important distinction right now is between momentum and sustainability.
Momentum is clearly strong.
Sustainability still needs confirmation.
If XRP can consolidate above the $1.20–$1.25 region while maintaining healthy volume and avoiding excessive leverage buildup, the market could gradually shift its attention toward $1.35 and eventually $1.50. If the token instead loses the recent breakout area after momentum indicators cool down, a deeper consolidation would not necessarily invalidate the broader recovery.
My overall reading is therefore constructive but cautious.
The XRP story has improved considerably from the sub-$1 phase, and the combination of broader crypto strength, institutional interest, improving sentiment and strong price momentum has created a much healthier backdrop. At the same time, the rapid appreciation has pushed momentum indicators into overheated territory, so expecting XRP to move vertically without pauses would be unrealistic.
Key market map:
$1.20–$1.25 — important near-term structure
$1.30–$1.35 — major resistance zone
$1.50 — major psychological resistance
$1.10–$1.15 — deeper support area
$1.00 — major psychological/structural level
The next phase of XRP's move will be less about how quickly it can rise and more about whether buyers can turn the recent breakout into a sustainable base.
That is the signal that would separate a short-lived squeeze from a genuine trend reversal.
