🇯🇵 JAPANESE STOCKS ARE NOW ON GATE — AND THIS COULD OPEN A NEW MARKET FOR GLOBAL TRADERS
One of the more interesting developments for traders looking beyond crypto is happening in the Japanese equity market. Gate has expanded its stock offering to include approximately 300 Japanese stocks, bringing well-known companies such as Toyota, Sony, Nintendo and SoftBank into the same platform where many users already follow digital assets and other global markets.
What makes this interesting to me is not simply the number of stocks available. The bigger story is accessibility. Japanese equities have historically required investors to think about local brokerage access, market structure and currency conversion. Gate’s new offering gives users another way to gain exposure to Japanese companies using USDT, making the process much more familiar for people who already operate in the crypto ecosystem.
And Japan is not a market that should be ignored.
Japan has some of the world's most recognizable companies across automobiles, electronics, gaming, financial services, technology and industrial manufacturing. Many of these businesses generate revenue internationally, so their performance is influenced not only by the Japanese economy but also by global consumer demand, technology trends, supply chains and currency movements.
Toyota is probably the first name that comes to mind. It represents one of Japan's strongest global industrial franchises, with enormous exposure to the automotive industry and the ongoing transition toward hybrid and electric vehicles. But buying a famous company simply because it is famous is not enough. Investors still need to consider valuation, vehicle demand, margins, competition, production costs and the company's future strategy.
Then there is Sony, which gives investors a completely different type of exposure. Sony is not simply a traditional electronics company anymore. Its ecosystem stretches across gaming, entertainment, music, movies, imaging technology and other consumer businesses. That diversification makes Sony particularly interesting for investors who want exposure to several long-term trends through one company.
Nintendo is another completely different story. Its strength comes from intellectual property, gaming hardware and some of the world's most recognizable entertainment franchises. Nintendo's investment case can be heavily influenced by new hardware cycles, game releases, user engagement and the ability to turn its intellectual property into long-term entertainment revenue.
SoftBank is perhaps the most different of the major names. Rather than viewing it as a traditional Japanese industrial company, investors often look at SoftBank through the lens of technology, telecommunications and its large investment portfolio. Its exposure to technology and AI-related themes can create significant upside potential, but it can also bring considerably different valuation and volatility risks.
This is why I think the launch is more interesting than simply asking which stock will go up next.
The real opportunity is research.
Instead of looking at Japanese stocks as one single category, traders can compare different sectors and investment stories. Automotive companies, technology companies, gaming companies and investment groups can react very differently to the same macroeconomic environment.
There is also another factor that deserves attention: the Japanese yen.
When investing in Japanese companies, currency movements can affect returns for investors whose base currency is USDT or another currency. A stock can perform well in its local market while currency movements change the final return when converted. That means Japanese equities should be evaluated from both a company perspective and a broader macro perspective.
Japan's monetary policy, interest rates, inflation, the yen, global trade and overseas demand can all influence the performance of Japanese stocks. For exporters such as major automobile and technology companies, currency movements can be particularly important because a large portion of their business is connected to international markets.
The Nikkei 225 has also shown how quickly investor sentiment can change. Japanese equities have attracted significant global attention in recent years, but strong markets do not move in a straight line. Valuation, earnings expectations and global liquidity still matter, especially after large rallies.
For crypto traders, this creates an interesting opportunity to expand the way we think about markets.
Bitcoin, Ethereum and other digital assets are highly sensitive to liquidity, risk appetite and macroeconomic expectations. Japanese equities have their own fundamentals and catalysts. Having access to both does not mean they should be traded in the same way. It means traders can compare different markets, identify different opportunities and build a broader understanding of global capital flows.
Personally, I would not choose a Japanese stock simply because it is the most popular name on the list.
I would start by comparing the business model, valuation, earnings growth, sector outlook, international exposure and the risks surrounding each company.
Toyota gives you automotive exposure.
Sony gives you gaming, entertainment and technology exposure.
Nintendo gives you gaming and intellectual-property exposure.
SoftBank gives you technology, investment and AI-related exposure.
Four completely different stories.
And that is exactly what makes this launch interesting.
The question is no longer whether Japanese stocks deserve attention.
The question is which Japanese company has the strongest opportunity from current valuations and future growth.
If you had USDT ready and could choose ONE Japanese stock to research first, which would you pick?
Toyota?
Sony?
Nintendo?
SoftBank?
Or would you go beyond the obvious names and search for an undervalued Japanese company that most traders are not talking about yet?
Share your pick and, more importantly, tell us why.
The best investment idea is not always the most popular one. Sometimes it is the company that people haven't discovered yet.
