#StrategySurgesNearly12%
MSTR does not move quietly when Bitcoin does.
BTC’s push toward $70,000 lit the fuse on a short squeeze that sent MicroStrategy up nearly 12% and Coinbase over 9%. The 1-hour chart captures the violence of that covering. After weeks of lower highs connected by a clear descending trendline, price finally snapped higher in a pair of large green candles, tagging the 106 area before settling back near 104. The break of that yellow resistance line is clean. EMA 50 sits at 97.70, the 200 at 99.40, and the Bollinger upper band has expanded to 106.76. RSI has climbed to 63.88 without yet reaching extreme territory. MACD has flipped positive with expanding green histogram bars.
Short covering clearly amplified the move. When a stock this tightly linked to Bitcoin starts forcing leveraged shorts to buy back, the candles get vertical fast. That part is straightforward.
What is less clear is whether this is the beginning of a lasting trend change or simply a violent but temporary squeeze. Both MSTR and Coinbase remain deep in the red for the year, so the recent strength is still working against a larger drawdown.
The bullish case needs the broken descending trendline to hold as support on any retest. If price can stabilize above the 100–102 zone and the broader Bitcoin strength continues, the short-covering rally has room to extend and start repairing some of the yearly damage.
The skeptical case is equally honest. A squeeze driven by forced buying can exhaust itself once the most painful shorts are closed. If the 1-hour structure fails and price slips back under the old trendline and the 50-period EMA, this leg starts looking like another failed bounce inside a larger downtrend.
Neutral path in the immediate sessions is sideways digestion between roughly 102 and 106 while the market tests how much genuine demand exists beyond the covering.
My own view is that the break of the descending line matters and the squeeze was real, yet I am not ready to call a full trend reversal while both names sit so far below their yearly highs. The next few closes relative to the broken resistance will decide whether this was a genuine shift or just a sharp, short-lived spike.
Are you treating the MSTR move as confirmation of broader risk appetite, or still waiting for more evidence?
