Bitcoin: A Struggle Between Miner Sales and Institutional Purchases

Bitcoin is trading around $63,500, down slightly by 0.2% in the last 24 hours. The price range is stuck in a narrow band between $63,200 and $64,500. The market is experiencing a struggle between selling pressure from miners and the buying power of institutions. Technical indicators point to a possible breakout after consolidation in the short term.

Miner Sales: The Pressure Factor

Between August 5-9, several mining companies listed on multiple exchanges sold significant amounts of BTC:

· Mara Holdings: 726 BTC
· Cipher Digital: 470 BTC
· Bitdeer: 270.5 BTC
· Hyperscale Data: 150.5 BTC

These mass sales are creating additional supply in the market, putting downward pressure on the price. Reasons behind miners selling include operational costs, equipment investments, or profit taking.

Institutional Purchases: A Balancing Force

Several institutional players continued accumulating Bitcoin during the same period:

• Morgan Stanley: Added 232 BTC, bringing its total to over 6,500 BTC. • Cardone Capital: Purchased 350 BTC. • Block: Increased its position to 9,117 BTC with an additional 85 BTC.

These institutional purchases stand out as a factor balancing the selling pressure from miners. The continued interest of traditional financial institutions in Bitcoin, in particular, supports long-term optimism.

Technical Outlook

Current Situation:

• Price: $63,542
• 24-hour High: $64,473 - Low: $63,234
• Volume: 5,050 BTC (321.75 million USDT)

Death Cross: This formation, created when the short-term moving average (e.g., MA50) crosses below the long-term average (MA200), signals weakness in the short term. However, this signal doesn't always lead to a sharp decline; sometimes it can result in horizontal consolidation.

Bollinger Bandwidth: A narrowing of the band width to extremely low levels indicates that volatility may increase in the near term. Historically, such narrowings are seen before large price movements.

Increased Volume: An increase in volume while the price is falling is often interpreted as panic selling. However, this can also be seen during a base formation process.

Balance Between Institutional Buying and Miner Selling

Miner Selling (Pressure):

· Operational costs and energy expenses
· Equipment investments and capacity expansion
· Profit realization

Institutional Buying (Support):

· Long-term portfolio diversification
· Increased confidence with regulatory clarity
· Hedging strategies against inflation

My Expectation

Bitcoin is seeking a balance point between selling pressure from miners and buying support from institutions. Although technical indicators signal weakness in the short term, the narrowing of the Bollinger Bandwidth points to a potential breakout in the near term.

Levels to Watch:

· Resistance: 64,500 (intraday high), 65,000 (psychological)
· Support: 63,200 (intraday low), 62,000, 60,000

Macroeconomic data and institutional buying flows to be released in the coming days will be influential in determining the direction of Bitcoin.
