Don’t focus solely on the rate of return! An exceptionally high short-term return often indicates a high-risk strategy.
The following indicators should be considered comprehensively:
Return curve: Choose signal providers with steadily rising curves and limited drawdowns. Curves with sharp rises and falls indicate extremely high risk.
Maximum drawdown: This is a more important metric than the rate of return. It measures the largest historical loss in the signal provider’s account. Excessive drawdowns indicate poor risk-control capabilities.
Win rate: The proportion of profitable trades relative to the total number of trades. Strategies with a high win rate and an appropriate risk-reward ratio are generally more stable.
Trading history: Review performance over at least 3–6 months. Signal providers who have weathered multiple bull and bear cycles or a variety of market conditions are generally more reliable.
Holding time: Avoid signal providers who frequently engage in short-term trading, as they may be farming commissions.
Fund management: Examine the risk controls applied to each trade and whether the provider has a habit of making highly concentrated bets.
Number of copy traders and asset size: Providers with more followers and larger total assets under management are relatively more trustworthy, but beware of the “star effect.”
