According to a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday, Fidelity Investments plans to add staking to its spot ether exchange-traded product, the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH).

The asset management firm said that FETH will generally be able to stake up to 100% of the ether it holds, excluding ETH reserved for redemptions, paying expenses, and maintaining liquidity.

The fund will retain 85% of staking rewards and direct 15% toward fee payments. Investors are also expected to receive rewards in cash on a quarterly basis, although receipt of those rewards is not guaranteed. Fidelity expects staking to begin “as soon as reasonably practicable” after the prospectus is published. The preliminary prospectus may be amended before the registration statement becomes effective.

Fidelity—one of the world’s largest asset management firms—has joined other U.S. ether-based products that already offer staking or are seeking the ability to offer it. Grayscale became the first U.S. issuer to include staking in spot crypto exchange-traded products in October 2025, while BlackRock launched a separate iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB) in February 2026. Bitwise also attempted to add staking to its Ethereum ETF but withdrew

its application in September 2025. Seeking Alpha author Ryan Mauk wrote

in May that the lack of staking in FETH puts it at a “relative disadvantage” compared with Grayscale’s and BlackRock’s staking-enabled products. As of August 11, FETH had attracted

about $2.13 billion in cumulative net inflows since its launch in July 2024, according to Farside Investors. Before U.S. markets opened on Wednesday, the ETF was rising faster than most ETH funds in premarket trading, gaining 2.4%, according to Yahoo Finance.$ETH ‌ ‌
