Local time on November 5th is the official voting day for the US presidential election. Just after midnight Eastern Time on November 5th, voters in the small town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, were the first to cast their votes, marking the official start of the 60th US presidential election voting.



On that day, most polling stations across the United States opened in the morning and remained open until the evening of the 5th. According to data from the University of Florida Election Laboratory, as of the morning of November 4th local time, over 78.02 million voters in the United States had cast their votes early.

The current candidates for the President of the United States are the Democratic candidate and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris and the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump. The U.S. media generally believes that the 2024 election is the most closely contested presidential election in recent years in the United States.
