PANews July 29 news: CoinDesk reported that Citadel, which manages $67 billion in assets, expects the Federal Reserve to unexpectedly raise rates by 25 basis points on Wednesday, while crypto and traditional market analysts widely expect rates to remain unchanged. Frank Flight, Citadel’s head of macro strategy, said the rate hike will “decisively end the era of forward guidance,” forcing the market to price based on data rather than policy expectations, and to “clearly establish the Federal Reserve’s independence.” CME FedWatch data shows the probability of a rate hike is 35.8%, up from 25.7% a week ago, but the market mainstream still bets on the Fed holding rates steady. Since last Wednesday, Bitcoin has fallen from nearly $67,000 to below $64,000, and trading sentiment is cautious. Citadel believes that waiting until September to raise rates would weaken the impact of the policy, and that a rate hike in July is more reasonable given rising oil prices and intensified tensions with Iran, which increase inflation pressure.
