Ethereum Builds Momentum, but Capital Rotation Remains the Key Confirmation

Ethereum is showing renewed resilience after an extended period of underperformance against Bitcoin. The ETH/BTC pair has begun to stabilize, while multiple on-chain metrics indicate that bearish momentum is gradually fading. Notably, the ETH/BTC MVRV ratio has recovered from historically undervalued levels and climbed back above its long-term average. In previous market cycles, similar recoveries often marked the end of Ethereum's relative weakness and the beginning of a stronger performance phase. However, lasting outperformance has consistently depended on fresh capital entering the market rather than valuation alone.

Exchange flow data also paints a more constructive picture. The ETH/BTC Exchange Inflows Ratio has fallen significantly from the elevated levels seen during earlier distribution periods, suggesting that Ethereum holders are sending fewer coins to exchanges for potential selling. Lower exchange inflows typically reduce short-term selling pressure, creating a more favorable environment for ETH/BTC to recover, provided overall market liquidity remains healthy.

Trading activity is gradually becoming more balanced as well. Although Bitcoin continues to dominate spot trading volume, the ETH/BTC spot volume ratio has stopped making new lows and is beginning to stabilize after its recent decline. This shift suggests that capital is no longer flowing overwhelmingly into Bitcoin, with investors increasingly allocating funds across the broader market. Historically, sustained improvements in this metric have often preceded stronger relative gains for Ethereum as both institutional and retail participation expanded beyond Bitcoin.

While current conditions do not yet signal the start of a full-fledged altcoin cycle, they do suggest that Ethereum is rebuilding its relative strength on a healthier on-chain foundation. Continued growth in the MVRV ratio, subdued exchange selling pressure, and stronger spot market participation would provide the confirmation needed for ETH/BTC to extend its recovery. Until these factors align more decisively, the data supports cautious optimism rather than a definitive shift in market leadership.#GateCardUpTo8%Cashback #USD1StakingEarnUpTo8%APR
