PANews, July 28: Vida, the founder of Formula, posted that on the day he sold nearly $7 million worth of U.S. stock storage-sector PUT options, most of which were contracts expiring about one month later. Vida said that the storage-sector stocks have pulled back sharply, market sentiment is extremely bearish, and the implied volatility of the relevant individual stocks is at historical highs, while demand for AI and fundamental expectations have not noticeably changed compared with a month ago—equivalent to the same assets being discounted by about 35%–50%. He gave an example using a one-month MU (Micron Technology) PUT with a $660 strike price: selling 15 contracts would allow him to immediately collect about $47k in premiums. If MU falls below $660 at expiry and is assigned, he would take delivery of roughly $1 million worth of shares at what he considers an “extremely attractive” price, and then use a covered strategy to capture subsequent gains.
