US July consumer confidence index fell to 90.8, and households’ view of the labor market was weak

ME News update, July 28 (UTC+8): The U.S. Conference Board consumer confidence index fell from 92.2 (revised up from June) to 90.8, below the forecast of 92.3. Households’ views on the labor market remain generally weak. Dana Peterson, chief economist at the Conference Board, said that in July, consumer feedback on factors affecting the economy remained largely pessimistic, and mentions related to employment and unemployment increased slightly.
