ME News, July 28 (UTC+8): Zcash mining firm Fortitude announced that its first self-built 12-megawatt mining facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, United States has officially connected to the grid and entered operation, expanding its in-house power portfolio to more than 60 megawatts and covering 7 sites. The company said that, leveraging lower electricity prices and next-generation mining rigs, the facility is expected to reduce its direct cash cost of mining Zcash per coin from about $70 to about $40, while the current ZEC price is about $489 and its market value is about $8 billion. Fortitude is controlled by Digital Currency Group and is advancing its U.S. listing through a merger transaction with HeartSciences, a healthcare technology company listed on Nasdaq, emphasizing the adoption of self-built, self-operated power and facilities to lock in long-term low-cost electricity amid intensifying competition for hashrate and power, and as AI data centers fight for power resources.
