PANews July 28 news: According to Sifted, ZuriQ, a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), has completed a $25.5 million seed round of financing to develop a new quantum chip architecture. The company says its architecture is more scalable than existing approaches and can enable rapid scaling of quantum computing technology. ZuriQ’s technology is based on ion-trap quantum computing, but uses a completely new chip design, which is expected to address the scalability bottlenecks of traditional ion-trap systems. The company was founded by a research team from ETH Zurich, and its core members have years of academic and industrial experience in the field of quantum computing. This round of funding will be used for further R&D and team expansion, accelerating the commercialization of its quantum chips.
