SOON: The mainnet has resumed operation; the security incident was caused by an infrastructure configuration issue
PANews July 28, 2024, SOON posted on the X platform that it detected a security incident impacting its operating environment on July 12, and therefore paused the sequencer and related services. The incident was caused by misconfigurations in the operating infrastructure and issues in permission management. External attackers obtained unauthorized access by improperly configuring services, but it did not involve protocol vulnerabilities, the sequencer, or users’ smart contracts. Users’ assets were not affected. SOON has hired BlockSec for an independent review, replaced the affected credentials, and rebuilt and hardened the relevant infrastructure components. NFT minting and token claiming resumed on July 21, and the mainnet RPC service and block production were restored to normal on July 27.
