CoinWired news: The most popular $900 trillion trading product in the crypto market—perpetual contracts—is about to move into Wall Street, but large banks are cautious. Perpetual contracts have already become a popular trading product among investors outside the United States; after their recent launch in the regulated U.S. market, Wall Street is assessing whether they’re just a temporary retail craze or a long-term threat to traditional futures. According to data, Kalshi’s perpetual contracts saw trading volume exceed $1 billion within their first week after launching in June, becoming the company’s biggest product debut. The exchange is also seeking regulatory approval to offer perpetual contracts related to gold and silver, suggesting the product may not be limited to Bitcoin and other digital assets. Despite rising market interest in perpetual contracts, most major financial institutions are still studying these products rather than preparing to roll them out at scale.
