What’s the background of Geely Automobile, exactly?

First, it took over Volvo.
And now it’s acquired a Ford factory.
In my impression, Geely cars mainly have an advantage in price—affordable enough.
But otherwise, they seem just average. How do they make so much money?

There must be government backing behind Geely, otherwise where would all that money come from to make so many acquisitions?

Do you think it’s cheap because the technology is poor? Their supply-chain management is strong, and the profit margins are huge. They’re pushing hard into new energy sectors too now—don’t judge them with old eyes.

Don’t underestimate Geely. After acquiring Volvo, it shared technology, significantly improving quality, and its cost control is indeed excellent—profits are substantial.

Actually, Geely’s moves are pretty smart: first it acquires Volvo to boost its brand and technology, then it buys factories to expand production capacity. With a low-cost strategy and the scaling effects, profits naturally follow. And government support also matters—don’t just look at the surface-level low prices.
