ME News, July 27 (UTC+8): In a report, Danske Bank senior analyst Joel Rossier said that if Federal Reserve Chair Washington is expected not to release new economic projections or forward guidance at Wednesday’s meeting, market focus will shift to divergences in voting within the policy committee. He said: “We believe the most likely outcome is that 2 to 4 members support a rate hike, but that’s not enough to lead to a rate hike.” Danske Bank expects the Federal Reserve to raise rates by 25 basis points in December and again in March next year, but the risks are skewed toward starting rate hikes earlier. Although money markets have already priced in expectations of about 8 basis points of tightening—implying a tightening probability of about 31.5%—the market still expects the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates unchanged at this week’s meeting.
