ME AI News: On July 27, Atoms, the holding company of Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick, has completed approximately $1.7 billion in equity financing. The lead investor is Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participating investors including Bain Capital, Fifth Wall, Uber, and others. Ben Horowitz will join the board of directors. The funds will be used for industrial AI and physical automation (mining, transportation, food, etc.). Among them, Pronto (a heavy-industry automation company under Anthony Levandowski; Atoms previously acquired it) is the core strategic focus for the mining and transportation directions. The move is widely seen as Kalanick’s return to the tech stage after leaving Uber. (Source: MLion)
