$ESP has put together a genuinely sharp rally over the past few days, climbing around 16 percent in the last 24 hours alone and more than 20 percent since July 23, pushing the token up toward the $0.09 resistance zone from a base near $0.07.
This move fits a pattern the token has actually shown before. ESP surged similarly earlier this year, jumping over 40 percent in a single session while bitcoin and major altcoins were struggling near support, a case where the token moved in the opposite direction of the broader market entirely. That kind of relative strength during a risk-off stretch tends to draw attention precisely because it's unusual, and it often reflects either targeted accumulation or a narrower pool of capital rotating into a specific narrative rather than broad market participation.
The technical warning signs here are worth taking seriously. A daily RSI reading of 100 is about as extreme as an overbought signal gets, and sitting right at the top of the recent range while approaching key resistance is exactly the kind of setup that has historically preceded pullbacks for this token. Volatility running near 18 percent adds to that picture, and it's happening against a market-wide Fear and Greed Index stuck at 26, deep in fear territory. A token rallying this hard while broader sentiment stays this weak is the same kind of divergence worth treating cautiously rather than as confirmation of a durable trend.
There's a structural detail worth understanding about ESP specifically, since it shapes how sustainable a move like this can be. Total supply sits at roughly 3.59 billion tokens, but circulating supply is still only around 15 to 17 percent of that total, meaning a large share of tokens remain locked and set to enter circulation over time through contributor, investor, and staking-related unlocks. Ten percent of supply was distributed through an airdrop that unlocked fully at launch, which already added early volatility, and the ongoing proof-of-stake model introduces further token inflation through block rewards. That combination means demand has to keep outpacing a steadily growing supply for price gains to hold, a dynamic that becomes more relevant the higher the token climbs.
On the fundamentals side, Espresso positions itself as shared sequencing infrastructure for Ethereum rollups rather than a flashy consumer-facing chain, with live integrations across several major rollup ecosystems. That's a legitimate infrastructure thesis, but it's also a slower-moving adoption story that doesn't typically explain a 20 percent move in a matter of days, which reinforces the read that this rally is being driven more by trading momentum and positioning than by a fresh fundamental catalyst.
For anyone tracking ESP on Gate, the practical thing to watch is whether price can actually close above the $0.09 resistance zone with real volume support, rather than stalling and reversing the way an RSI of 100 combined with deep market-wide fear would suggest is likely. Given the overbought reading, the elevated volatility, and the supply overhang still ahead, chasing this move at current levels carries meaningfully more risk than waiting for either a pullback toward prior support or a clean, volume-confirmed breakout before treating this as more than a short-term momentum spike.
