Pi Network Evolves: New Ecosystem Tokens & Fair-Access Distribution Revealed!

The controversial, heavily followed Pi Network is taking its next major step toward a functioning decentralized economy. The Core Team has officially unveiled major updates to its token distribution model, alongside the introduction of its new Pi Ecosystem Tokens on the Pi Launchpad.
Here is a full breakdown of the latest developments and what it means for "Pioneers" globally.
What Are Pi Ecosystem Tokens?
According to Pi Network co-founder Chengdiao Fan, the project is taking a deliberately "different approach" to tokenomics.

Fan stated that traditional Web3 tokens function primarily to raise capital, which often leads to projects failing to provide real utility. Pi Ecosystem Tokens are designed specifically for user acquisition and product utility.
Startups and developers building on Pi can issue these tokens to attract users and integrate them directly into their app's functionality (for payments, access, or governance) rather than simply selling them to investors.
🚀 Pi Launchpad & The 'SLICE' Test Token
To stress-test this new economy, Pi Network has updated its Launchpad and introduced a secondary test token named SLICE.
Simpler Participation: The team has overhauled the Launchpad based on feedback from nearly 480,000 Pioneers. The new flow allows users to easily choose a "commitment amount" in Test-Pi to acquire ecosystem tokens.
Anti-Whale Mechanics: To ensure a decentralized distribution, Pi introduced a "fair-access hold." This mechanism requires users who want to commit larger amounts to temporarily lock up proportionally larger amounts of Pi. This progressively scales to prevent whales from crowding out retail Pioneers with smaller commitment sizes.
