PANews July 25 report, Bloomberg reported that sources said Chinese AI company DeepSeek has told potential investors that the second round of fundraising is currently on hold. One of the reasons for the pause is that founder Liang Wenfeng was dissatisfied with media coverage of his private conversations with investors during the first round of financing—this round was completed in June and raised $7 billion.

DeepSeek’s first-round investors include Tencent, CATL, and a national AI fund. The second round originally planned to raise at least 10 billion yuan RMB more, with a pre-money valuation target of 480 billion yuan. The company has begun preparing for an IPO, and may submit an application as early as this year. Negotiations are still ongoing, and the funding may still be restarted. Bloomberg said it has not verified the authenticity of the remarks, and DeepSeek did not respond to a request for comment.
