MARKETS ENTER A CRITICAL WEEK
The final week of July 2026 has become one of the most closely watched periods of the year as crypto markets, global macro trends, and institutional capital converge. Investors are tracking monetary policy, commodity prices, ETF flows, and broader market sentiment, all of which could shape price action across multiple asset classes during the remainder of the quarter.
CRYPTO MARKET SNAPSHOT
Bitcoin continues to trade within the $63,000–$65,000 range after briefly falling below $63,000 during an AI-related market selloff. A $1.4 billion Bitcoin options expiry has added another layer of market activity as traders position for the next major move.
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization remains near $2.17 trillion, recovering from recent lows but still below the approximately $2.30 trillion level reached earlier this year.
Ethereum continues to demonstrate relative strength compared with Bitcoin, supported by consistent Layer 2 activity and healthy on-chain metrics. However, ETH still faces important resistance below $1,900.
Solana trades near $74, with technical support around $75.52 and a daily RSI near 37, placing the asset close to an important technical decision area.
ALL EYES ON THE FED
The upcoming July 29 FOMC meeting remains the primary macro event for global financial markets.
Recent inflation data has presented a mixed picture. Core CPI for June remained flat month over month, below expectations, while annual core inflation measured approximately 2.6%. At the same time, headline inflation has remained elevated near 3.5%.
According to CME FedWatch, the implied probability of a July rate increase has climbed to 37.9%, compared with 12.8% only one week earlier. While many analysts continue to expect interest rates to remain within the 3.50%–3.75% range, investors remain focused on the Federal Reserve's guidance regarding inflation and future policy decisions.
The Fed's Monetary Policy Report also noted that inflation remains above its longer-run objective, reinforcing the importance of incoming economic data.
ENERGY MARKETS REMAIN IN FOCUS
Energy prices continue to influence global market expectations.
Brent crude recently moved above $100 per barrel before easing toward $97.72, while WTI crude has traded near $101.85. Market participants continue monitoring developments affecting global energy supply and transportation, as changes in energy prices may influence inflation expectations during the months ahead.
Higher energy costs remain an important consideration for investors evaluating future monetary policy and economic growth.
PRECIOUS METALS CONTINUE TO ATTRACT ATTENTION
Gold has maintained strong performance throughout July.
Spot gold recently reached approximately $4,070 per ounce, while futures traded near $4,713. Gold has also maintained support around $4,000 for several consecutive weeks, reflecting continued investor interest.
China's gold imports increased to a two-year high of 173 tonnes during June, while silver futures advanced 7.47% to $75.50 and platinum gained 4.22% to approximately $1,974.
EQUITY MARKETS SHOW CAUTION
Global equity markets have also experienced increased volatility.
U.S. equity funds recorded approximately $7.34 billion in outflows for the week ending July 22, compared with $4.18 billion during the previous week.
Technology shares faced additional pressure following earnings reports and continued discussion surrounding AI investment costs. Semiconductor stocks also experienced weakness during July, reflecting a more selective investment environment across growth sectors.
BITCOIN AND ETHEREUM ETF FLOWS
Institutional activity remains one of the most closely watched indicators for crypto markets.
June marked the largest monthly net outflow for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs since launch, totaling approximately $4.601 billion.
July initially showed renewed optimism with $510 million of inflows during the opening trading sessions, but sentiment later softened as $225.1 million in net outflows were recorded on July 23, ending a seven-day inflow streak. BlackRock's IBIT represented the largest daily outflow.
Despite recent fluctuations, cumulative net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs remain around $51.85 billion, while total ETF assets stand near $80.36 billion, representing approximately 6.08% of Bitcoin's market capitalization.
Ethereum ETFs have shown comparatively stronger momentum, recording five consecutive days of net inflows, including approximately $26.3 million on July 24, highlighting continued institutional interest in Ethereum.
WHAT INVESTORS ARE WATCHING
Several major themes continue to shape market expectations.
The upcoming Federal Reserve decision, energy market developments, corporate earnings, ETF flows, and overall macroeconomic conditions will remain key factors influencing both traditional financial markets and digital assets.
For crypto investors, Bitcoin's $60,000 support level continues to represent an important technical reference point, while Ethereum's relative strength and steady institutional participation remain positive areas to monitor.
The final week of July brings together monetary policy, institutional positioning, commodity markets, and cryptocurrency performance at a pivotal moment for global markets.
With Bitcoin consolidating, Ethereum maintaining relative strength, ETF activity continuing to evolve, and investors awaiting the next Federal Reserve decision, market participants are entering one of the most important periods of Q3 2026. Careful risk management, disciplined positioning, and close attention to macro developments will remain essential as the market looks for its next major direction.
