Why I’m Writing About the Middle East Escalation Today. A Creator’s Honest Take
There are topics I avoid writing about. Geopolitical escalations are high on that list. Not because they're not important. They are very important. But because the difference between what is actually known and what people say they know is usually very large. Still the events in the 24 to 48 hours feel important enough that staying quiet would be a kind of running away instead of being strong.
So I’m writing this with my own limits clear in my mind.
What Is Being Reported
According to reports U.S. Intelligence now believes that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei is more ready to make a nuclear weapon than his father was. If that is true it changes the way things are looked at in a way. It does not mean a nuclear weapon is coming away but it does suggest a change in what is wanted that markets and people in charge will have to deal with.
At the time the fighting part of the conflict is growing:
Saudi Arabia has done airstrikes on Yemen’s Hodeidah port.
Iran has attacked Bahrain.
U.S. Forces say they fired at a ship that was trying to get around the blockade of ports.
Yemen’s Houthis have said they will respond after the attacks.
These are not events. They form a pattern of pressure on many areas. Red Sea shipping, Gulf states and the wider areas near Iran.
Why This Feels Different to Me
I have watched Middle East conflicts rise and fall for years. Many of them cause short effects on markets and then go away. What is different this time is the mix of a leadership report (the nuclear willingness claim) with actions happening all at once. That mix makes the chance of a mistake higher.
I am not saying we are about to have a war. I am saying the number of things changing is more and the space for mistakes is smaller. When the main oil places and the energy systems in the region are in the middle of the fighting the extra cost in energy markets is not an idea.
How I Am Looking at It as Someone in the Market
I do not make a living by trading in politics. I try to see when political risk is not seen enough or is seen much compared to the real chance of long-term problems. Now my idea is that the market has started to change the prices of oil and risky assets but it has not completely understood the chance of a longer period of problems.
That could change fast in either direction. A real signal that things are getting better would take back a lot of the changes. More problems would probably make it worse. I am looking at both sides of sticking to one story.
The Honest Limitation
I am not an intelligence expert. I do not have access to the information that led to the claim about Mojtaba Khamenei’s wishes. Everything above is based on what's said in the news and my own thinking about what might happen next. I might be thinking much about the risk. I might also be thinking little about it. The only honest way is to stay ready for facts and change what I think as they come.
This is the kind of topic that makes a creator choose between being quiet or thinking carefully. I chose to write today because the events are important and because the Summer Creation Camp is meant to celebrate real-time thinking instead of only clean past analysis.
I will keep watching the situation. Will write again if things become clearer. Or if they get worse.
This is my thought and market observation. It is not advice or a guess, about what will happen. Always do your research and take care with risks.
