ME News, April 27 (UTC+8): A report titled “Reforming MiCA to Support Euro Stablecoins,” jointly released by the European Blockchain Association and Dr. Ulrich Bindseil, former Director-General of Market Infrastructure and Payments at the European Central Bank, together with Erwin Voloder, Research and Strategy Director at the Association, states that although MiCA is recognized as an important regulatory framework, some of its design choices may lead to an excessive regulatory burden, thereby weakening the competitiveness of the EU market and pushing relevant business outside the EU. The report calls for a series of reforms to strengthen MiCA’s competitiveness, resilience, and global influence for the euro stablecoin ecosystem, and urges policymakers and industry participants to jointly engage in discussion and further refine the framework.
