“I cried and said, ‘I’m your wife.’”

“Shouldn’t we shoulder everything together?”
He fell silent for a long time, then only said two words.
“Thank you.”
I knew he didn’t love me.
But he was an almost perfect husband.
A firsthand account from a woman
After we got married..
He gave me a card.
Every month, he would deposit twenty thousand into it.
He never asked what I spent it on.
Every year, we travel..
He handles the itinerary planning—
hotels, schedules, and everything—places where most couples are easy to argue.
We never had that.
I only had to follow along.
My parents were hospitalized, and he stayed with them overnight.
He found doctors; every year he proactively took them for checkups.
Even when it came to getting along with my friends, he was generous and proper.
Almost everyone liked him.
They praised him to the skies.
Everyone said,
I married the right person (even my mom said the biggest luck of my life is marrying the right one, and she even said she didn’t know what my husband saw in me😤).
But I know.
He doesn’t love me.
Because he never talked to me about his childhood.
During the time when his work pressure was at its worst,
he would work in his study every day until after midnight.
I wanted to keep him company.
He said:
Go sleep.
I said I’d make soup.
He said:
No need.
I cried and said:
I’m your wife.
Shouldn’t we shoulder everything together?
He was silent for a long time.
In the end,
he only said two words:
“Thank you.”
I understand.
He just did everything a husband is supposed to do.
Doing it to near perfection—
as for love,
he left it many years ago.
Everything he put into the marriage
wasn’t for me.
It was for the person who married him.
Because I know
he used to date someone for six years.
From high school to graduating from college.
Back then, all the light was in his eyes.
He would also spend hours on the road just to meet someone.
He could be happy all day over a single sentence.
And he could also lie awake all night after an argument..
It’s just that later, when it was my turn,
he no longer knew how to love that way.
If it were you, when you heard your husband say “thank you” those two words, what would you think?
