NVIDIA will invest $1 billion in South Korea’s Naver and expand its cooperation agreement with SK Group

PANews July 25 news, according to Jīn 10, NVIDIA (NVDA.O) announced it will invest $1 billion in Naver, a South Korean internet and cloud services provider, for its in-progress AI data center project in South Korea. NVIDIA said the funding will more than double the scale of Naver’s data centers. The project is being jointly developed by Naver and the U.S. private equity firm Brookfield Group, and will be fully equipped with NVIDIA AI computing hardware. In addition, NVIDIA has reached a cooperation with SK Group to plan an AI data center cluster in South Korea with a total compute capacity of over 2 gigawatts. This power load roughly meets the electricity demand of 1.5 million households. NVIDIA revealed that the first AI computing factory, built by SK Telecom, will be put into operation next year. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said, “South Korea is entering a golden development period. The country’s semiconductor industry and industrial sectors are thriving, and it has the full capability to build AI infrastructure for the world.”
