PI NETWORK News: Pi Network Official Node Upgrade Status Update – Only the Last Step Remaining
On July 23, 2026, the Pi core team updated a quick reference for upgrade status, confirming that the mainnet infrastructure upgrade roadmap has reached another major milestone.
According to the latest official documentation, all planned protocol upgrades from protocol 19.1 to protocol 25.2 have been successfully completed. Before the roadmap is fully finished, only one final step remains.
Current official upgrade status
The completed upgrade paths are as follows:
★ Protocol 19.1 → 19.6
★ Protocol 19.6 → 19.9
★ Protocol 19.9 → 20.2
★ Protocol 20.2 → 21.2
★ Protocol 21.2 → 22.1
★ Protocol 22.1 → 23.0
★ Protocol 23.0 → 24.1
★ Protocol 24.1 → 25.2
Last step
Protocol 25.2 → 26.0
Status: Do not start (pending)
The Pi core team has clearly instructed node operators not to begin upgrading to protocol 26.0 before the official announcement is released.
------
What does this mean?
This update indicates that Pi Network has been steadily executing its long-term infrastructure migration over the past few months.
Each protocol upgrade brings improvements, including:
- Enhanced blockchain stability
- Database migration and optimization
- Improved mainnet performance
- Better compatibility with the latest Stellar protocols
- A stronger foundation for future ecosystem functionality
With protocol 25.2 now successfully deployed on the network, the blockchain appears to be entering the final preparation stage before protocol 26.
------
Protocol V25 brings modern blockchain capabilities
The recently released protocol V25 is not just a routine software update.
It introduces several advanced technologies, including:
- BN254 cryptography support
- Poseidon hash function
- Infrastructure for zero-knowledge (ZK) applications
- Enhanced privacy capabilities
- Improved smart contract readiness
These technologies are widely adopted in modern Web3 ecosystems and strengthen Pi Network’s groundwork for future decentralized applications.
------
Important reminder for node operators
If you operate a Pi mainnet node:
★ Keep your node updated to protocol 25.2.
★ Continue running your node normally.
★ Do not attempt to upgrade to protocol 26.0.
Wait for the Pi core team’s official instructions before taking any action.
------
Looking ahead
The fact that only one upgrade remains is an encouraging sign that Pi Network’s infrastructure modernization is nearing completion.
While the Pi core team has not yet announced a release date for protocol 26, today’s update shows that the network is proceeding cautiously through its final planned migration phase.
As always, the community should rely on official announcements rather than guessing future milestones.
Patience and following official guidance remain the best approach for every pioneer and node operator.
