Before, I hated it when my husband played games.

(From a girl’s spoken account)
She said! When she was dating her husband, she hated it the most when he played games…
One time, at around a little past seven at night, she cooked scrambled eggs with tomatoes and chicken wings with cola, then called from the kitchen:
“Dinner’s ready.”
No one in the living room responded..
She called again, still no answer.
By the time she carried the dishes out and went looking for her husband, he was wearing his headphones, eyes fixed on the screen, and repeatedly shouting:
“Push the tower! Push the tower! Don’t go up yet!”
She stood there, waiting for several minutes
The food slowly turned cold! She even got so angry she yanked the power plug from her husband’s computer, but her husband didn’t get mad
That night, the two of them didn’t say a word
Later, because of games, they argued many more times.
She even told her husband:
“If you want games, don’t come looking for me.”
But every time, her husband only smiled and said, with that thick-faced confidence:
“Want to play one round with me?” “Let’s play together?”
She always refused, irritated every time
One time, it had been raining outside for ages, and they were really bored staying at home
She picked up another controller offhand and played with her husband
On their first try, she didn’t even know how to rotate the camera view
Walk two steps and you hit a wall,
Jump onto a platform, then fall down four or five times
She felt a bit discouraged, set the controller on her lap, and said:
“Forget it, I can’t.” “I don’t want to play anymore.”
Her husband didn’t laugh at her.
He just stood by the finish line, waiting patiently, and said:
“It’s okay. I’ll wait for you.”
After that, whenever they had time, they started playing together
Her husband handled killing monsters
She handled picking things up
When others picked up weapons, she picked up flowers.
When others searched for resources, she chased butterflies.
While playing, her husband teased her:
“Are you here to go on an adventure, or for a spring outing?”
She said “so annoying,” but she couldn’t stop smiling
The two of them also often bicker in the game
But what truly changed her was the period after she gave birth
Back then, the baby was born and would wake up several times every night
The two of them couldn’t sleep well every day
Finally, after they managed to get the baby to fall asleep, the house was quiet at last
Her husband would turn off the big light in the living room, leaving only a little glow from the TV
She went to the fridge to grab two cans of ice cola!
The two of them, in their pajamas, curled up on the sofa, one controller each
Sometimes, just after playing for twenty minutes, the baby monitor suddenly picked up crying
The game was paused right away
One went to warm the milk, the other went to hold the baby
Once the baby was asleep again, the two of them tiptoed back to the sofa and finished the round they’d just started
She said that time was really exhausting!
But also, during that time, they would smile together every day.
Later, the day they beat 《It Takes Two》, she cried
Her husband laughed at her:
“It’s just a game, isn’t it?” “Why are you crying”
She wiped her tears and shook her head as she said
“No.”
“I just suddenly realized that even the hardest part of my postpartum recovery—having you stay with me through it—also had a place for a game”
“Maybe I’m not actually the one who hates games.”
“I’m afraid—your happiness has nothing to do with me.”
Seeing this, Cat Ge thought
Maybe good feelings, at the very least, should be willing to step into each other’s world to take a look, don’t you think?
If it were you, would you be willing to try to understand what your other half likes?
