PANews, July 23—According to the Financial Times, after three years of cracking down on crypto tax evasion, the UK tax authority, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), has reached a settlement with hundreds of crypto investors and recovered more than £8 million in taxes. Data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request shows that over the past two years, 502 crypto investors reached disclosure settlement agreements with HMRC regarding unpaid taxes. In the 2024/25 tax year, 280 people reached settlements with HMRC, paying a total of £3.5 million. In the 2025/26 tax year, the number of settlements fell to 222 people, but the total amount increased to about £4.8 million.
