Google’s future spending commitment rises to $811B, surging by nearly $500B within three months

PANews July 23 news, citing Jintou, Google revealed in a quarterly filing that as of the end of June, its committed future contract spending totaled $811 billion, up by nearly $500 billion from three months earlier. These amounts are disclosed separately from Google’s capital expenditure budget and represent purchases it has committed to under supplier agreements and outstanding purchase orders. Of these, about $200.7 billion is for short-term procurement. The commitments cover various areas including chips, data centers, power, inventory, and content licensing. This sharp increase highlights how quickly Google locks in resources as it expands the infrastructure supporting its AI business. The disclosure further showcases the astounding scale of AI infrastructure buildout. On Wednesday, Google’s parent company Alphabet said it expects to invest about $195 billion to $205 billion in capital expenditures this year alone, to compete with Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and others and expand AI computing capacity.
