BITCOIN LOSES A KEY SUPPORT LEVEL

Bitcoin has slipped below the important $65,000 mark, with price trading near $64,992.9. While the move may appear small at first glance, it carries significant technical importance. For weeks, the $65K level acted as both psychological and structural support. Losing that level suggests the strong recovery seen earlier this month is beginning to lose momentum, forcing traders to reassess the market's short-term direction.

The question now is straightforward: Is this a healthy pullback before another rally, or the beginning of a deeper correction toward major support?

THE JULY RECOVERY HAS REACHED ITS FIRST MAJOR TEST

Bitcoin rebounded nearly 13% from its early July lows around $57,750, spending the past several sessions consolidating between $64,000 and $66,800.

That recovery restored confidence after months of heavy selling, but the latest rejection below $65,000 indicates buyers are struggling to maintain control.

Even after the rebound, Bitcoin still remains roughly 50% below its October 2025 all-time high above $125,000, highlighting that the broader market is still attempting to recover from one of its largest corrections.

MACRO CONDITIONS REMAIN A CHALLENGE

The broader economic backdrop continues creating headwinds for risk assets.

Oil prices remain elevated in the $90–100 range as tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continue disrupting global energy markets. Reports suggest the diplomatic process between the United States and Iran has entered a critical phase, increasing concerns over future supply disruptions.

Higher energy prices continue feeding inflation.

April CPI increased 3.8% year-over-year, with energy prices rising nearly 17.9%, reinforcing expectations that inflation may remain persistent.

As a result, markets are becoming increasingly cautious ahead of future Federal Reserve decisions, with investors now assigning greater probability to additional rate hikes rather than policy easing.

For Bitcoin, higher interest rates generally reduce liquidity and increase competition from traditional fixed-income investments.

ETF FLOWS ARE NO LONGER PROVIDING STRONG SUPPORT

Institutional demand has also weakened compared with earlier in the year.

June 2026 became the weakest month on record for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, recording approximately $4.6 billion in net outflows.

Although a five-day inflow streak helped Bitcoin recover above $65,000 earlier this month, that momentum has gradually faded.

Among institutional products, BlackRock's IBIT experienced approximately 11 consecutive days of net redemptions, totaling around $2.2 billion.

The slowdown in ETF demand means Bitcoin currently lacks one of the strongest catalysts that previously supported higher prices.

TECHNICAL LEVELS NOW MATTER MORE THAN EVER

From a chart perspective, Bitcoin is testing a critical area.

On the 4-hour timeframe, price is approaching the lower boundary of its rising channel near $65,000.

If sellers maintain control, the next liquidity zone appears near $64,500, followed by stronger support around the $63,170 moving-average region.

Meanwhile, both the 100-day and 200-day moving averages continue limiting upside momentum.

Should buyers regain strength, the first resistance remains between $67,000 and $68,000, with a potential extension toward $70,000–72,000 if momentum improves.

However, the most important long-term support continues to be $60,000.

A decisive break below that level could significantly increase selling pressure under lower-liquidity market conditions.

ON-CHAIN DATA OFFERS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Despite weaker price action, blockchain data presents a more balanced picture.

Exchange balances continue declining as long-term holders move coins into private storage, suggesting that large investors are not aggressively selling.

The recovery from $57,750 also represents Bitcoin's strongest monthly rebound since January, indicating that longer-term accumulation may still be taking place beneath the surface.

At the same time, traditional financial markets have provided little additional support.

The Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 have traded slightly lower, while recent rallies in gold and silver have paused. The U.S. Dollar Index has remained relatively stable, leaving crypto markets without a strong macro catalyst.

WHAT SHOULD TRADERS WATCH NEXT?

The coming sessions will likely determine Bitcoin's short-term direction.

A successful recovery above $65,000, supported by stronger trading volume, would suggest that recent selling pressure is losing momentum and buyers are regaining control.

Failure to reclaim that level, however, keeps the market vulnerable to another decline toward the critical $60,000 support zone.

Until a fresh catalyst emerges whether through renewed ETF inflows, easing geopolitical tensions, or a shift in Federal Reserve policy Bitcoin may continue trading within a volatile, low-volume environment.

FINAL THOUGHT

Bitcoin's move below $65,000 is more than just a price fluctuation it represents an important test of market confidence.

The technical structure remains recoverable, but macroeconomic uncertainty, weaker institutional flows, and cautious investor sentiment continue limiting bullish momentum.

For now, $64,992.9 has become the market's decision point.

Whether it becomes the foundation for the next rally or the starting point of another correction will depend on how buyers respond over the coming days.
