PANews July 23 report, citing CertiK’s 《Hack3D: 2026 H1 Wrench Attacks》: In the first half of 2026, 52 confirmed wrench attack incidents occurred, up 33.3% from 39 in the same period of 2025. The recorded financial losses associated with these attacks were about $124.1 million, higher than $10.5 million a year earlier. Geographically, the threat situation is highly concentrated. Of the 52 confirmed incidents, Europe accounted for 39; among them, France alone accounted for 33, making it the main country center in the dataset. Strategically, the most notable change in the first half was a surge in cryptocurrency-related home-invasion theft cases. Home-invasion theft cases rose from 1 public report in the first half of 2025 to 20 in the first half of 2026. The number of kidnapping cases remained consistently high, increasing from 12 to 16. The number of torture cases stayed unchanged at 4, while murder cases remained at 1 in each first half.
