Risk Management — “Build Your Risk Defense System”

Volatility in the crypto world is extreme; a 20% single-day drop and a 70% monthly drawdown are very common. Without a risk-control system, even if you have more unrealized profits, it can instantly go to zero. Most people only study ways to profit, ignoring loss control. In reality, risk management is the core of long-term survival.

1. Capital management: invest only idle funds
The money you put in must be idle funds that—if you lose it all—will not affect your everyday life. Strictly prohibit borrowing, loans, and entering the market with high leverage. Do not use living reserve funds; under heavy pressure, operations are easily distorted.

2. Position management: diversify holdings, strictly cap the upper limit
Never heavily concentrate on a single coin. Follow the iron rule: a single coin’s position ≤ 20% of total capital; for high-risk small coins ≤ 5%. Keep mainstream coins like BTC and ETH as your core holdings with allocation of 50% or more to avoid severe damage from a single-coin blow-up.

3. Leverage management: leverage is a double-edged sword; beginners should stay away
Leverage magnifies both gains and losses. One misjudgment can lead to liquidation. If you participate in futures, prioritize low leverage of 2–3x; per-trade capital must not exceed 10% of the account. Every trade must set a stop-loss to eliminate any reliance on luck.

4. Set a loss “red line” and stop trading in time
Hard rules: if daily losses reach 5% of total capital, immediately stop trading; if weekly losses reach 15%, take a forced break for one week. Avoid the trap of trying to make it back quickly after consecutive losses by adding to positions against the trend, which can lead to a deep-loss cycle.

5. Withdraw regularly to lock in gains
Unrealized profits are not the same as real profit. If your total account assets rise by more than 30% in a month, withdraw half of the excess profits to lock in returns, preventing bull-market paper gains from being fully given back during a bear market.

6. Guard against black swans; store assets in a diversified way
In history, exchange blow-ups, regulatory risks, and events where projects go to zero have been coming one after another. Do not store assets in a single platform. Diversify across 2–3 exchanges, and allocate large amounts to cold wallets to withstand extreme risks.

Risk control is not about being conservative—it is the confidence for long-term survival. Living longer matters far more than making money faster. If you strictly execute this system, in extreme market conditions you’ll have the confidence to wait for the next opportunity.
