#特斯拉持有11509枚BTC近四年未动 Tesla holds 11,509 BTC and has not moved them for nearly four years. This behavior indeed reflects to some extent its recognition of Bitcoin’s long-term value.

1. Official statements and strategic positioning
Tesla management has repeatedly publicly said it believes in Bitcoin’s “long-term value.” For example, in 2021, Tesla CFO Kirkhorn stated clearly in an interview after the earnings report: “We believe in Bitcoin’s ‘long-term value,’ and we will continue to invest in Bitcoin.”
Tesla views Bitcoin as an “alternative asset to cash reserves” and emphasizes that it has “long-term value storage characteristics,” indicating that Bitcoin in its asset allocation is not a short-term speculative tool, but rather part of a diversified reserve asset.
2. Holding stability and response to market volatility
Although Bitcoin’s price fell sharply during the 2022 market downturn, Tesla chose to keep its remaining holdings and did not further sell. After Tesla sold about 75% of its Bitcoin holdings in 2022, the remaining amount was about 9,720 BTC. Later, by the end of 2024, it modestly increased to 11,509 BTC, and has maintained that level to date.
Even when Bitcoin’s price dropped by about 22% in the first quarter of 2026, Tesla did not carry out any buying or selling, but instead absorbed the adjustment in asset prices and retained the tokens. This kind of behavior of keeping holdings stable amid price fluctuations shows its confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value rather than changing strategy due to short-term volatility.
3. Accounting standards and financial impact
After the FASB’s new accounting standards were implemented in 2024, Tesla began measuring its crypto assets at fair value, allowing the value of its Bitcoin holdings to be reflected more realistically in its financial reports. By the end of 2024, the fair value of Tesla’s Bitcoin holdings was $1.07 billion. In 2025 Q3, it further increased to $1.35 billion, with $80 million of unrealized gains recognized in that single quarter.
Despite Bitcoin price volatility leading to changes in book value (such as recording an impairment loss in 2026 Q1 due to the price drop), Tesla did not adjust its holdings, indicating it focuses more on long-term value than on short-term price fluctuations.
4. Link to industry trends
As a globally well-known company, Tesla’s Bitcoin holding behavior has a demonstration effect on the market. Its practice of long-term holding Bitcoin, to some extent, has helped drive recognition of cryptocurrencies on corporate balance sheets, and also reflects institutional investors’ gradually increasing acceptance of cryptocurrencies’ long-term value.
