Anthropic joins the UK FCA’s second AI regulatory sandbox, offering Claude models
PANews July 23, citing The Block, reported that the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) launched the second phase of its Supercharged Sandbox, with Anthropic to provide participating companies with Claude AI models (including Claude Code and Claude Cowork) for application development such as agentic payments, fraud detection, compliance automation, and AI governance.
A total of 21 institutions were selected for this round, including Scottish Widows, Money Advice Trust, and TrueLayer. The FCA said it received 199 applications in total, up 51% from the first phase, reflecting a growing demand from financial institutions for controlled AI testing environments. The program continues the FCA’s collaboration with NVIDIA and NayaOne, providing participating parties with computing power and development tools. The FCA also launched, alongside this, a 10-week Agentic Academy with a fintech startup hub to help businesses develop and deploy AI agents for the financial services industry.
