Institution: AI infrastructure spending is expected to grow 56% to $497 billion in 2026; ARM architecture replaces x86 as the mainstream compute platform

Golden Finance reported that on July 22, according to data from research firm IDC, AI infrastructure spending will reach $89.7B in the first quarter of 2026. Rack-level GPU servers based on Arm architecture will replace x86 processors and become the mainstream acceleration computing platform. IDC also raised its forecast for full-year 2026 AI infrastructure spending to $497B, up nearly 56% year over year, mainly driven by growth in capital expenditures from hyperscale cloud service providers and emerging non-GPU AI demand. The global AI infrastructure market size will exceed $10k in 2029, reaching $10.8k, and will climb to $12.1k in 2030, with an estimated five-year CAGR of about 30% starting in 2025.
