What a great industry. Back then, it was hastily pushed out of the country and handed over to the United States. Now Hong Kong is going all out to chase it, but it can’t catch up anymore…
Report: The crypto industry contributes $55B to the U.S. economy, directly employing 34,000 people
On July 23, the U.S. National Crypto Association released a report saying that the U.S. crypto industry directly employs 34,000 people; if the jobs supported by the vendor industry and consumption by related workers are included, the total number of jobs supported is about 232,000. The report expects the industry to contribute more than $55B to the U.S. GDP in 2026, with about $31B flowing to workers in the form of labor income.
Of the 232,000 supported jobs, about 75,000 come from the vendor industry, and another 123,000 are driven by household consumption from related workers. These figures are based on multiplier effects from an input-output model and do not represent the number of employees directly hired by crypto companies. Among the 34,000 direct jobs, software, blockchain, and data engineering roles are the most, at about 10,100.
In terms of regional distribution, California and New York support 57,649 and 53,766 jobs respectively, totaling more than 111,000; Texas supports about 26,536 jobs. The 12 U.S. mainland states defined in the report together support about 17,000 jobs.
The report was commissioned and funded by the National Cryptocurrency Association, and the Pragmatic Policy Group is responsible for the analysis. Its estimates are based on the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis 2024 input-output tables and $23.22B crypto industry revenue data, with occupation structure and industry mapping including model assumptions. $AVAX
