Apple is planning a comprehensive overhaul of its entire Mac product line, even aiming to install an OLED touch screen on the MacBook Pro for the first time!

Apple is preparing to comprehensively revamp its entire Mac product line to meet the strong compute demand driven by local AI agents and compute-intensive AI applications.
Fueled by the local AI deployment boom, Mac sales are expected to grow for a third consecutive year. Apple plans to roll out updated iMac, MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and an all-new MacBook Pro throughout this fall into next year.
In the specific product roadmap, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro (code name J804) will come with a new M6 chip, while the upgraded iMac (code names J833/J834) will be the first desktop update in two years.
The most notable change is for the high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models codenamed K114 and K116. For the first time, both models will introduce OLED display technology with a touch screen, powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. They are currently undergoing internal testing based on macOS 27.1 and are expected to be released from late this year into early next year.
Severe imbalances between supply and demand are reshaping Apple’s pricing and distribution logic. Because Mac mini and Mac Studio can connect to external displays and heterogenous computing environments, they have become the core compute platforms for running local AI applications.
However, production pressure caused by a shortage of memory chips has led to a severe supply-demand imbalance, and shipping lead times for some Mac mini and Mac Studio orders have already stretched to more than three months.
To address rising upstream storage chip costs and strong demand, Apple raised Mac product prices across the board in June 2026:
MacBook Neo base price increased from $599 to $699
The 13-inch MacBook Air base price rose to $1,299
The 16-inch MacBook Pro is priced at $9,999
To lower the purchase barrier for users and maintain hardware distribution volume, Apple plans to officially launch a hardware leasing program covering Mac devices on July 28.
