I really don’t get it—Bitcoin is already on the brink of collapse, barely hanging on. Why keep messing around like this!? Damn it.
BIP-110 is a soft-fork proposal that’s currently under intense discussion, aiming to reduce the amount of data that can be stored in Bitcoin transactions, to limit the occupation of block space by non-currency transactions, including Ordinals (inscriptions).
BIP-110 is one of the most controversial proposals in the Bitcoin community right now. Supporters believe the proposal will help reduce pressure from non-financial-use transactions on block space; opponents, however, worry it could affect the openness of the Bitcoin network.
Blockstream CEO Adam Back has publicly opposed BIP-110, saying the proposal could be used to freeze users’ funds. Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has also criticized it, saying it could cause some normal transactions to be affected.
According to Hashrate Index data, Foundry USA currently accounts for about 23.8% of the total Bitcoin network hashrate, making it one of the largest Bitcoin mining pools globally. Its stance on BIP-110 may influence the proposal’s future community discussions and deployment process. $BTC
