Others chase the spike and get liquidated into zero; I rely on discipline with small funds to roll into a comeback.

When I first entered, I was exactly like most retail traders: watching altcoins and MEME coins surge in a straight line made me jealous, and when the community’s big bosses called out buy signals, I followed them with a full position. I kept thinking I could double in one go and get rich overnight.

With 1,200 USDT as my capital, I followed the crowd and chased hot spots, going all-in at the local high. As soon as the market pulled back slightly, I panicked so badly my hands were shaking. I didn’t dare stop-loss, stubbornly held on—until I was finally liquidated and wiped out to zero. The savings I’d worked hard to build turned into nothing in an instant. In that period, I stared at the charts every day, tearing myself apart. When I saw others post screenshots of profits, I felt anxious. The more I wanted to get back to even, the more urgently I returned to trading, and the more chaotic my moves became—repeatedly chasing and killing. I ended up being just another “harvested” retail trader in the market, repeatedly taken advantage of.

After reflecting and learning the hard way, I completely overturned all my trading habits. I set a set of rules that go against human nature, gave up fantasies of getting rich overnight, and focused on slowly building with a snowball effect plus strict risk control:

1. Split capital directly into three parts. Never exceed 20% of total capital for any single entry, and always leave no room for full-position trades. Even if I judge the direction wrong and exit via stop-loss, the loss is fully controllable;

2. For 80% of the sideways/choppy market, stay completely sidelined and do not force trades. Only wait for the point where multiple signals align with certainty to enter. If I can’t read the chart, I simply give up;

3. Lock the stop-loss level in advance. When the price hits, exit unconditionally. Never “bet” by holding out in anger, and never add to a losing position to dilute cost. When profits reach the target, take half the profit first and book it. Use the remaining position’s floating gains to gamble on the subsequent market—while protecting the profits you’ve already secured.

Not long ago, the CLARITY crypto bill broke out major favorable news. At around 6:00 a.m., BTC surged up to the 66,696 line, with sentiment exhausted. After an upward move with no volume follow-through, it faced pressure and fell back. While retail traders across the whole internet were still chasing longs out of excitement and hoping to break new highs, I combined the news with technical analysis and pinpointed a short opportunity in the heavily pressured resistance zone. At the current price, I placed a short order based on the resistance level.

The market played out exactly as predicted: no strength on the way up, continued downward pressure. The trade hit take-profit smoothly and I exited with the gains secured. My profit from that small swing was steadily booked.

With this rigid but reliable approach, the original 1,200 USDT after going to zero was rolled forward steadily from the start. There has never been a liquidation/zeroed-out trade record, and my account size steadily doubled along the way.

In crypto, it’s never a piggy bank for the bold—it’s the stage for discipline to execute. Hot altcoins look tempting, but in reality, harvest traps are everywhere. On DEX platforms, “worthless dogs” show up endlessly, and with zero listing threshold, nine out of ten projects are destined to launch and then run. The people who can truly survive long-term and gradually turn things around never follow the hype—they stick to their own trading system, ride the main market trend, and nail it.

While others flip trades back and forth in a range and pay fees, I patiently wait for a precise one-shot entry. While others chase at the high and, when trapped, endure the pain and cut losses, I calmly set up at my pressure levels to harvest the pullback profits.

The market is never short of opportunities. If you can control your hands, stick to the rules, and outlast the majority’s impatience and giving up, time will naturally convert the compounding dividend into everything you get.

I admire your self-discipline—this move is indeed solid. Discipline matters more than anything.

I also came up with a small amount of capital, so I really understand the pain of chasing pumps and cutting losses. Now I’m learning how to split positions and set stop-losses, but when I see others posting their wins, I still get impulsive. How exactly do you look for that multi-signal confluence? Can you share it with me?

I understand the reasoning, but it’s genuinely hard to execute. I’ve got to admit I respect that you stayed flat and just watched an 80% range move. I always want to catch every fluctuation; in the end, I paid a lot in trading fees and still lost money. I also saw what happened with the CLARITY Act, but I didn’t dare enter—I missed it. Seems like I still need to do only certain opportunities, like you do.
