Russia Passes Its Own “Crypto Version of the CLARITY Act”
The Russian State Duma has passed a new digital assets bill, allowing compliant digital assets to be used in scenarios such as international trade and cross-border settlements.
This bill is an important step in Russia’s push for de-dollarization, because:
▪️ Russia is accelerating the use of digital assets for international trade to reduce reliance on the USD system.
▪️ BRICS is also exploring the establishment of an independent cross-border payment system, aiming to reduce dependence on traditional USD settlement networks.
▪️ For countries affected by U.S. financial sanctions, crypto assets are providing a new international payment channel.
▪️ Meanwhile, real-world assets such as gold and silver are also entering blockchain networks through tokenization (RWA), further expanding the use cases for digital assets.
If more and more countries start using digital assets to complete cross-border trade and international settlements, the U.S. dollar’s dominant position in global trade may face more challenges in the future.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the “petrodollar system is about to collapse” or that the dollar will quickly lose its role as a reserve currency. But it’s clear that more and more countries are incorporating digital assets into their national strategies and exploring the creation of a more diversified international payment system—this is a new trend!
